SSO

Problem

Your company has 80 applications. Without centralized login, employees might need 80 separate identities and passwords. Removing an employee also means updating 80 systems.

Solution — Single Sign-On

Applications rely on a common identity system. Identity Provider / | \ App A App B App C The user authenticates through the identity provider and applications rely on that established identity. Microsoft Entra ID provides SSO across Microsoft 365. You sign in to Outlook, then open SharePoint or Teams. Those applications can use your existing Entra sign-in session, so you usually don't need to enter your credentials again.
Core idea: SSO centralizes authentication across multiple applications.
