One giant network gives you little structure.
Solution — Subnets
Divide the address space: 10.0.1.0/24 → Apps 10.0.2.0/24 → Data 10.0.3.0/24 → Management
Policies and routing can then differ between network areas.
Core idea: subnets divide a larger network into manageable IP and security boundaries.
