Phase 1 · Trips 1–15
Linux CLI Fundamentals
Navigate Linux, understand the filesystem, and manipulate files confidently.
0 / 15One progressive learning path
A progressive learning path from your first Linux command to building, deploying, and troubleshooting Kubernetes applications. Learn through focused, practical Trips using local, free tools.
Linux CLI → Bash → Networking → Containers → Kubernetes → CKAD
All learning goals, dependencies, and checkpoints are organized here. Runnable walkthroughs are still to be written. Mark skills you have already practiced yourself.

Build speed, accuracy, and confidence under time pressure.
0 / 9Walkthroughs will target a Linux environment with Bash. The shared baseline is Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on a local machine or VM. Windows learners can use Ubuntu in WSL2; macOS learners need a Linux VM for Linux-specific exercises.
The systemd, namespace, and cgroup exercises belong in the Linux system. Container and Pod exercises will identify where each command runs. Container tooling alone does not replace this Linux environment.
Tools enter progressively: Bash, curl, jq, yq (Mike Farah), ShellCheck, Docker Engine or Podman, kind, and kubectl. Individual walkthroughs will include compatible versions, setup instructions, and verification.
The planned example is a small HTTP application called Trip Notes in ~/cloudtrips-linux-k8s. You begin with its files, logs, and configuration, then automate checks, build a container image, and operate it with networking, storage, and security in Kubernetes. The application and exercise files will accompany the walkthroughs.
Understand → Execute → Verify → Break → Troubleshoot → Automate
A learner can independently build, deploy, configure, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain Kubernetes applications using CLI tools.
